Amrita Kular, MPH

Communications Committee Co-Chair

Amrita Kular, MPH, is a Sikh woman, communications strategist, and public health professional with more than a decade of experience serving underrepresented communities. As Communications Director at the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF), a national civil rights organization, she has grown the organization’s audience to more than 500,000 by building a unified brand identity and leading narrative strategy, earned media, and digital content. She has also developed culturally grounded storytelling and mental health resources for Punjabi-speaking and trauma-impacted communities across the United States. Her public health experience includes community health campaigns with the American Lung Association and health promotion work alongside executive leadership at NYC Health + Hospitals.

Amrita is the founder of SikhLEAD Media, a Los Angeles-based career accelerator that advances inclusive representation for emerging Sikh American storytellers. She has spoken at UCLA’s Center for Scholars and Storytellers and at national conferences, and her work has earned media coverage ranging from local ethnic outlets to The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. She holds a BA in English Literature from UC Riverside and an MPH in Management from New York University. She believes health equity begins when communities see their own languages, stories, and families reflected in the information meant to protect them.
