Aisha Bhimla is a Program Officer within The Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine based in Washington DC. She is a public health researcher with experience facilitating and conducting studies related to chronic disease and cancer, physical activity, mental health, cognitive functioning, and teen pregnancy/STI prevention. She is specifically passionate about understanding how social determinants of health, such as the neighborhood and built environment are associated with chronic health conditions among racial and ethnic minority populations. She obtained a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Temple University and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for Asian Health at Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine.
