NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING MONTH

August is National Breastfeeding Month! Check out the American Academy of Pediatrics' updated policy statement, featuring the first major revision to breastfeeding guidelines in over a decade. The AAP now recommends breastfeeding for two years or more for most children.

Many public health policies and initiatives can better support families to breastfeed for longer, such as universal paid parental leave, the right to breastfeed in public, and access to lactation support and lactation rooms.

HEALTH EQUITY SURVEY

Over recent years, SAPHA has made a number of changes to its mission and vision (check it out at sapha.org). As we continue on this new path, we want to define our role as a public health association and clarify our responsibility in reducing health inequities faced by South Asians in the subcontinent and the diaspora.

To this extent, we've developed a Health Equity survey to get member guidance and pull on our collective wisdom to co-create our organizational future. Please fill out the survey below by September 15.
