SAPHA was invited to attend the White House AA and NHPI Mental Health Convening on Wednesday July 24, 2024, a pivotal event aimed at addressing the mental health needs of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. The convening gathered community leaders, mental health professionals, researchers, and federal officials to discuss ongoing challenges and strategies for improving mental health services. Key updates were provided on the Administration's efforts since the 2023 WHIAANHPI Mental Health Summit. During the "Centering Community Voices" listening session, SAPHA Vice President, Ayesha Azam, shared insights and recommendations to enhance culturally appropriate mental health support. SAPHA remains dedicated to advocating for and advancing mental health equity for AA and NHPI communities.
